This is an idea I have always toyed around with but never brought to fruition. But I have always wanted to be a storyteller, in the sense that I am a creative writer.
It doesn’t matter if I write a novel, a collection of short stories, or even a script for a TV show or movie; I believe in the power and impact of words. I have always enjoyed reading, and I want to share my love of stories with others.
As an adult, I can take real-life experiences and present them in a way that speaks to others beautifully and artistically. That’s why I blog on Medium. Millennial Mama is the result of that. I want my message to be heard by an audience. There may be more to my creativity than articles. What if I was able to write fiction? Could I write children’s books now that I am a mom? My keyboard is my creative oyster.
I want to give some tips to anyone interested in starting creative writing, whether it’s for them or others. It is a great hobby that you can enjoy and improve with practice.
Are You in Need of a Mental Wellness Vacation?
In order to be at your very best, you must take a little rest.
Read Often
If you don’t regularly read, it’s impossible to write well. You can strengthen your memory by reading, no matter what you read. This will help you to remember the correct sentence structure, grammar and spelling, and intelligent wordsmithing techniques. I read at least two online articles per day. Medium and other lifestyle magazines are what I read every day. Read content that you find interesting. You can learn how to write lifestyle articles by reading lifestyle magazines or blogs. You won’t succeed if you don’t have the motivation to start your journey.
Write something almost every day.
You can start writing every day. You can write anything, even if it’s so bad that your mother wouldn’t be proud. Consistency is the key, so long as you keep at it. Practice makes perfect.
Tell Us What You Know
What is the best way to overcome writer’s block? Write what you know. You can take a personal experience and make it work for you or retell an event that happened to you.
Plan Stories Ahead
You need to plan if you are serious about creative writing. What will your work look like? Will it be a long-form story or a short article? How many characters will you have in your fiction, and what type of world are they living in? It’s important to plan all of these things before you write your first sentence or chapter. A content calendar is a great way to organize all your ideas for blog posts and choose the topic you want to write in an instant.

A Brief Autobiography and an Insight into My Hectic, Yet Charming Life
Show, Don’t tell
In fiction, it’s important to illustrate what you are writing. It’s easier to describe something visually when you have a picture. You have to think like your reader. You can use this to your advantage. The reader is left to interpret your work on their own. You are painting an image of something in your mind by describing it in detail. This makes your piece more valuable and easier to imagine.
Get Feedback
Once you are ready, find a peer or a small group who will read your work and provide feedback without judging it. You can gain insight from an external source to improve your writing or to spark inspiration for a new story or chapter.
